An Inconvienent Headline
To be fair, it wasn’t “Internet Dating” that cost her money… it was “stupidity”.
Internet dating costs local woman more than $20,000
Be careful when hooking up with someone over the Internet, because your online romance could cost you.
Madison police are trying to track down a cyberspace con artist who duped a local woman out of about $20,000 plus a laptop computer and a cell phone in a scam that went on for several months.
Police spokesman Joel DeSpain said the woman, in her 50s, thought she had found a good man on a dating website in October.
You just can’t find a good date on the internet.
“The two of them struck up quite a courtship, with e-mails, phone calls and online chats,” DeSpain said. “He even sent her flowers.”
It wasn’t until the woman sent the aforementioned cash and goodies that she started to realize something wasn’t right.

Dumb Dumb Dumb. I understand she is in her 50's but does she also answere the emails from Africa that tell people. " I am a bank manager and looking to give away 10million dollars if you pay 10k just please help me get this money". I mean come on, do people feel sorry for her. or should be just be greatful that she is not a member of our family and we do not have to be embarrassed to share the same last name, Hell I know i would be changing mine dam fast.
